Our Strategic Focus: Agro business

As part of its mission to strengthen economic relations and promote business opportunities and knowledge exchange between Mozambique and the Netherlands, the Dutch-Mozambican Chamber of Commerce, for its first year, has established two primary strategic focus areas: Agribusiness and FinTech.
#Agribusiness
From farm to fork, the Netherlands is the second-largest exporter of agricultural and food products in the world (after the US), with more than 5,300 companies in this sector. More than half of the Netherlands’ land area is used for farming and agriculture accounts for almost 10% of its national income and employment. The Netherlands has also the 2nd highest private R&D investment in agri/food in Europe.Mozambique has excellent agro-climatic conditions that can result in year-round production, with several large rivers offering extensive waterways. There is significant potential as only 15% of 36 million hectares of arable land is currently being utilized. There is also a large export potential as the country is advantageously situated to reach Asian and Middle Eastern markets. We intend to bring the Dutch Agrifood powerhouse closer to the incredible potential that Mozambique has to offer in this key sector.
#FinTech
Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the fastest-growing investment zones for financial technology firms. This momentum has not yet reached Mozambique and we aim to enhance and energize this sector’s potential linking it to the booming Dutch FinTech startup ecosystem.
